International Farrell Clan RallyTo be held in Longford, Ireland July 21-24, 20085th International Farrell Clan Rally Visitors to converge on county ---------------------------------- July 21st to July 24th, 2008 ---------------------------------- It's four years since the county's premier family held their last rally which drew visitor from all over the world and their most successful gathering since the Farrell Clan formed all of sixteen years ago. Rallies are hosted in Co. Longford where Fergal and his 'men of valour' originated. Longford in ancient times was the seat of the O'Farrells, rulers of this area then known as Annaly, called after Fergal's g-grandfather, from whom the O'Farrells derived their surname. Moatefarrell hill, about 3 miles to the north-east, is the ancient inauguration site of the O'Farrell chiefts. Longford is Ireland's most central county and its earliest recorded name was Teffia. It formed part of the Royal Province of Meath and Lisfarrell fort was its most northerly outpost. The Farrell Clan is a perpetual hereditary association comprising of persons that bear the surname or are descended from an ancestor with the Farrell surname, or any of the variants - Ferrell, Ferrall, Farrill, etc. The Clan is a non-profit organisation founded and based in Ireland. It is run entirely by volunteers. Membership in our Irish Clan is open to all persons without regard to race, ethnic origin, religion, age or gender. We take great pride in collecting, recording and preserving the Farrell heritage. Also, we work to build a strong bond among all Farrells and their descendants worldwide.
